Location: Dior at River Oaks District

In honor of Vivian Wise’s birthday DIOR treated many of her friends to aย  party and sneak peek of their spring/summer 2018 collection. Guests enjoyed cocktails and light bites while wishing Vivian a happy birthday in the most fashionable way!

In addition to all the beautiful Dior fashions, guests were treated to a palm reader, tarot card reader and Vivian was presented with a floral cake. So fun!

It is very common for the house of Dior to find inspiration in art because Christian Dior himself owned an art gallery before the house was created. Naturally, the creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri (first female designer for the house) chose a female artist that inspired her. Nikki de Saint Phalle was French artist who was prominent in the 60s and 70s. Some of the notable works were “Nanas”. These colorful sculptures containing the same colors you will see throughout the collection. You will also see a popular work depicting a green dragon (“Tu es Mon Dragon”) on many pieces of the collection. One of her most exciting works was the “Tarot Garen” or “Giardino dei Tarocchi” located in Tuscany Italy. This is where you will find 22 monumental figures that represent tarot and consisted of colored mosaic glass. She worked on this from the 70s all the way until she died in 2002. This is also very strong theme in the collection. In fact, part of this mosaic structure was recreated in Paris for the Spring Summer 18 runway show with 82,000 pieces of mosaic glass!

A portions of the evening’s proceeds were donated to the Texas Legacy Foundation.
