Meet artist Adam Cook

July 8, 2015 by Beth Muecke 1 Comment

Location: Adam Cook

Check out local artist Adam Cook. His artwork is cheery, funky and modern. I love the colors, lines and various themes. He’s twenty five years old, was raised in Mississippi, but now lives right here in Texas.
Adam likes to  describe his  work as a mixture of abstract and neo- expressionism. It’s very exciting because it stays within that realm, but always seems to be slightly changing. Another aspect of his work is taking an ordinary thing we see everyday and distorting or simplifying it, then using rhythmic and vivid colors to really display it’s importance. It also serves as a great creative and mental challenge to amplify these things and turn the mundane into the exciting.
He says that his “influences are countless, but the ones that always seem to reveal themselves in my paintings are Picasso, Keith Haring, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. They were so prolific and never afraid to raise the bar or push the boundaries of art and that is something I have always admired about them and tried to do on my own merit. My main priority is to spread happiness and inspiration through what I do. I believe everyone should be able to experience art and enjoy how limitless it is. In the end if people are happy and inspired to create from what I do, then I’ve done my job as an artist.”

Adam’s  price points are budget friendly running from $100 (like the  piece in the first photo) to $600 (for larger scale pieces). He does drawings, paintings, shirts, jackets, pants and ever murals. He’s always experimenting .

He is in the process of developing a website, but you can check out his work on FB (link above), follow him on IG (artofadamcook) or email him at [email protected]

Adam Cook is awesome. I have collected 3 pieces and a friend bought one in Houston. I know he will go far and his work is so valuable to me! I have watched him in action and he is so full of light and energy and it shows in his work!
