Location: Houston SPCA

There are darling kitties, kitties everywhere at the SPCA. The Houston SPCA, founded in 1924, is Houston’s first and largest animal protection organization and shelter. Their mission is to promote commitment to and respect for all animals and free them from suffering, abuse and exploitation. The Houston SPCA is a private, non-profit charity, funded entirely by donations, which receives no funding from the Government, United Way or national animal groups.

Hundreds of cats, kittens, puppies, dogs, rabbits, small companion animals and even equine and farm animals are available for adoption every day. Back when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, the Houston SPCA took in hundreds of animals that were later reunited with their owners or adopted.
