Fashion Fusion, a fashion competition inspired by the exhibition Sculpted in Steel: Art Deco Automobiles and Motorcycles, 1929-1940. The 2016 finalists, students from Houston Community College fashion school, competed in style and imagination! There were 4 categories: Sculptural, Couture, Unconventional Materials and Jewelry/Accessories. I have been to a lot of fashion shows, but nothing comes close to the innovation displayed at this show. The very qualified judging panel of Fady Armanious, Chris Goins and Joy Sewing, knew they had some tough decisions ahead. In the end, they did an excellent job of choosing the night’s winners.  These HCC students, who varied in age, gender and ethnicity, came together for a night of friendly competition to showcase their imaginative designs aligned with the automobile theme. It was spectacular, and bravo HCC for being such a driving force in the fashion education world and bringing together such immense talent. All were winners in the audience’s opinion!

Evening hosted by the Museum of Fine Arts and Tootsies. Show produced by Tamara Klosz Bonar. Models from Neal Hamil Agency and Page Parkes Agency. Hair by Trey Gillen for Vita Mutari Salon. Makeup by Aubrie Layne/Lucky Cat Beauty.

Thanks for sharing my designs 🙂
I’m honored and grateful for the people that helped me make these outfits so beautifully real: thanks mom for your creative teachings, hubby Shankar for your support and funding, Ondina Aguirre for sharing your expertise in jewelry and metal making with me to make these outfits.
