I really love my job as a blogger and being treated to an afternoon at Healing Waters Float Spa is a perfect example of why! My bestie, Jennifer Hancock, joined me for this very special experience.
RECOVER & RELAX LIKE PRO ATHLETES & CELEBS, SECRETS REVEALED
Healing Waters Float Spa is officially open in River Oaks. The doors are officially open in River Oaks at Healing Waters Float Spa. Co-Owners, Joseph Cyrus and Juan Carlos Mazorra (native Houstonian and one of the original partners who created Hughes Hangar Gastro Lounge) have teamed up to teach Houstonians how to R&R, recover and relax.
“Floatation therapy is a phenomenal tool to cultivate mental stillness, provide stress relief, and pain reduction. Experiencing deep rest in the float cabin rejuvenates the body and mind leading to a vastly improved quality of life and greater level of overall well-being. We traveled across the United States and Europe to research floatation and we wanted to create for our community the most tranquil, luxurious and Eco-friendly atmosphere for one to gain the most blissful experience,” states Cyrus .
The duo has already installed a custom floatation cabin for a very famous Houston Texan football player , and the float spa has served some of Houston’s professional athletes. The idea is catching on with not only athletes but also celebrities and other notable people.
Floatation therapy is a therapeutic practice involving custom designed floatation cabins filled with 10″ of water and over 1300 pounds of dissolved medical grade Epsom Salt, a higher concentration than the Dead Sea. Floaters are free from external stimuli such as sight, sound, touch, temperature, and the force of gravity as they float weightless and effortlessly in water calibrated to match the skin’s temperature (F 93.5).
Floating allows you to conserve and redirect your natural energy, induce relaxation and heal your body, mind, and soul. The average person can reach a meditative state in just 20 minutes. Doctors and pro-athletes have known about the incredible benefits of magnesium sulfate for years but technological advances have now made the experience far better for muscle recov- ery, pain relief and even enhanced sleep management. A 90-minute float session can feel like 6 to 8 hours of deep sleep (full REM cycle). It only seems logical that connecting mind and body through mediation in water containing vital magnesium that is calibrated to body temperature would maximize the body’s healing and mental focus.
